The Additional Commissioner of Mumbai Municipal Corporation has ordered to expedite the work of this 112-year-old bridge near Sion station. The Commissioner has instructed to complete the work of the Sion Bridge by December 15, 2025 and the Belasis Bridge by May 31, 2026.The Commissioner said that the work on these two bridges, which are important from a transportation point of view, should be completed as soon as possible.

The Sion Bridge will connect the eastern and western parts of Sion, while the Belasis will connect the Taddeo Nagpada and Mumbai Central areas, so the reconstruction work of both these important bridges is currently in progress.The Commissioner also inspected both these bridges and gave instructions and instructions regarding the related work.

The work on the pedestrian bridge on the south side of the Sion Bridge is underway by the Railway Department and is scheduled to be completed by August 31, 2025. The demolition of the southern part of the bridge will begin after that, followed by the demolition of the bridge wall.The girder will be installed in January and all the remaining work on the railway elephant will also be completed during the same period.

Currently, work on bridges is going on at various places in Mumbai city. The work on carnac Bridge is also in progress. This work will also be completed soon. Therefore, this bridge, which is from the British era, will also be opened for traffic.

The underpass on Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg is also nearing completion. Among the access routes, the western access route is important and also complex, so the work on this access route will be completed on priority.The Commissioner clarified this at this time.Also, the work of the second subway will be undertaken by October 1, 2025, and this work will be completed by May 31, 2026.Some constructions are obstructing the construction of this 112-year-old bridge. Orders have been given to remove these constructions and provide alternative houses to the concerned residents. The related works should be completed by December 15, 2025.

In the meeting held on Tuesday, Additional Commissioner of Mumbai Municipal Corporation Abhijit Bangar, Joint Commissioner of Police Anil Kumbhare, Assistant Commissioner of D Division Manish Valunj, Assistant Commissioner of G Division Vinayak Vipasute were present.Chief Engineer of the Municipal Corporation Uttam Shrote, Deputy Chief Engineer of Central Railway Rohit Mehla, as well as concerned engineers and officials were also present in this meeting.Speaking in this meeting, the Commissioner said that both the Sion Bridge and Belasis Bridge, which are important from a transportation point of view, should be planned for early completion and related measures should also be implemented at this time.He also gave instructions on the construction and reconstruction of this bridge. He also set the target of completing all the remaining works of the Sain Bridge by December 15, 2022 and the Belasis by May 31, 2026.He also directed to complete the western access road, which is one of the important access roads, and open it for traffic as soon as possible.

The work on the Sion Bridge will be completed in phases. First, the pedestrian walkway on the south side will be completed, followed by various demolition works on the south side, as well as various works on the bridge wall, and then installation. All these works will be completed in phases.
