Amar Mahal Junction at the service of citizens
This project, which is a relief to the common Mumbaikars as well as the people of Chembur, between Amar Mahal Junction and Vakola, as well as the Western Expressway Highway, can now be reached in just 30 to 35 minutes. The Municipal Corporation had undertaken the work of constructing a 3.06 km elevated road between Kapadia Nagar and Vakola Nala elevated highway. Out of this, the Kapadia Nagar to Vakola Nala elevated road route has been completed and is now in service to the general public. However, the work on the 1.02-kilometer elevated road from Vakola to Pan Bai School was also completed some time ago.
Even after the completion of the work on these roads constructed by the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, they were not opened for traffic, which caused widespread discontent among the local people, and protests were held from time to time in this regard. The inauguration of Amar Mahal Junction and the flyover from Kalanagar Junction to Dharavi to Bandra to Worli Sea Bridge was also delayed. For this, the local MLA of Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray party, Varun Sardesai, and Aditya Thackeray had also raised the issue from time to time, but due to the Chief Minister’s lack of time, the work of inaugurating this highway was stalled. But on Thursday, the flyovers from Amar Mahal Junction to Vakola and Kalanagar Junction were also inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis.
Amar Mahal Junction is very important for the people of Chembur from a transportation point of view. It is widely used by both traffic and pedestrians. Also, this area is very important from a travel perspective due to its connectivity like Metro Line 2B and Green Line 4.But considering the increase in accidents in these areas in the past few days, the Municipal Corporation and the administration had decided to make some improvements in these areas. The Amar Mahal Junction was closed for some time and even after the work was completed, there was anger among the locals at that time because all this was not done.
With a view to supercharging the Western Expressway with the Eastern Expressway, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Authority (MMRDA) had undertaken the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road widening project.Work on the elevated road from Vakola to Pan Bai School was also undertaken internally. This road was also inaugurated by the Chief Minister on Thursday. The inauguration of this road will provide a great deal of relief to passengers travelling between Amar Mahal Junction and Western Express Highway. It will save them a lot of time and money. It will help to eliminate the traffic congestion that occurs in this area every year, and citizens will be able to cover this distance in just half an hour.Often, there is a large crowd in this area during peak season, and Chembur is also a very large area in terms of population, so this work at Amar Mahal Junction will definitely benefit ordinary Mumbaikars.
Even after the work was completed, projects like Amar Mahal Junction were waiting for inauguration for many days. Due to the Chief Minister’s planned visit, the inauguration was delayed for some time. But around Thursday, the Chief Minister inaugurated various development works in Mumbai city, including this one. There is an atmosphere of joy among the local citizens due to the inauguration. The ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials of the Municipal Corporation and various dignitaries.
