MHADA’s transit camp in Pratiksha Nagar goes under water

Mumbai city is currently receiving heavy rains, and around 30 to 35 houses in the Shiv and Pratiksha Nagar temporary shelters of MHADA’s Mumbai Building Repair and Reconstruction Board have been flooded due to the rains today.This affected most of the families living in this building, and as a result, the residents of that house were also inconvenienced, so the government started implementing measures at that place.

Until the rehabilitation of dangerous and highly dangerous buildings, the residents of these buildings are shifted to transitional camps in the city and then the eligible residents are given their rightful homes.Under this, the residents have been shifted to the temporary shelter camp in Pratiksha Nagar by the Mumbai Board.Also, residents of buildings that cannot be redeveloped are being given homes through a comprehensive list as well. There are also large-scale transit camps in areas like Pratiksha Nagar.Citizens have also been relocated to this transit town in Pratiksha Nagar.

Due to the rains today, the water level in the city has increased, resulting in water entering homes.Preliminary estimates suggest that some household items have also been damaged. Some electronic and electrical items in the house have also been damaged by rainwater.Such incidents have also raised questions about the safety of citizens, and it is being predicted that this water may also cause various health problems.Therefore, citizens have expressed displeasure in this regard because this rainwater also spreads germs and diseases.

Upon receiving information about this incident, MHADA officials immediately went to the transit camp in Pratiksha Nagar and the boards have also said that after taking necessary action, the eligible residents will be shifted to the new transit camp.It has also been said that it is necessary to resolve some pending issues in this transition camp.

Some issues regarding eligible, ineligible and trespassers among the residents who have migrated to this transit camp in Pratiksha Nagar are pending, which has also created some problems.Officials also said that eligible residents will be shifted to the new building soon after the biometric survey, but it is learnt that this will take at least a day or two.On this occasion, along with MHADA officials, citizens of the area as well as former corporators of the area were also present.Houses in the transitional camps are often in the news for doing something or the other, and Shiv and the houses in this area are currently in the news due to the rain problem.

Most of the residents of the existing transit camp will be relocated to the new transit camp and will be given possession of their homes once the redevelopment work of the buildings is completed.Meanwhile, the problem of ineligible and trespassers is also present. Due to trespassers, often eligible residents do not get a place in these transit camps, resulting in the families facing various problems.There is also a big challenge in removing these intruders, and MHADA officials said that only eligible residents will be provided with space to live in these transitional camps by removing ineligible residents.

The city has been receiving continuous rainfall for the past two-three days, due to which water has accumulated in the low-lying areas of the city, causing various problems for the citizens.Citizens have also been suffering greatly due to water entering houses in the transit camp.Further process has also been initiated to shift these 30 to 35 families to the new building.
