Police raided the Masjid Bandar area on Sunday. In this raid, the police seized gold worth nine crore rupees and arrested seven people in this related action.The entire matter is currently being investigated by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI).

According to preliminary information provided by the police, the police raided the Masjid Bandar area in South Mumbai on Sunday evening.In this raid, the police took action against the smuggled gold smelting unit and the related case came to light. It is believed that around seven people were involved in this entire incident.

The accused in this gold smuggling case in the Masjid Bandar area used to bring the gold into India with the help of foreign nationals and also used to bring the gold to their intended destination with the help and participation of airport employees.And these people would melt this gold and sell it in the market secretly and illegally. This included foreign citizens as well as some airport employees.When their gold smelting unit was raided, five people were initially detained. At that time, eight kilograms 747 grams of gold were available at the place. The total value of this gold was eight crore 93 lakhs. The gold was being smelted by the accused at that time.Also, when asked about the receipts and documents for this gold, they did not have any receipts or documents at this time.
The following accused were involved in gold smuggling of gold in masjid bandar area
It is currently understood that a total of seven accused are involved in this case in the Masjid Bandar area.The information of the accused including Meenanath Ghule, Vishwas, Ramchandra Yadav, Deepak Jangam, Rohit Mohite and Vikram Balkrishna Mothe etc. is currently being ascertained. The names of the owners of all of them, Rajkumar Pawar and Ravindra Salunkhe, have also come to light during the investigation.In this entire case, Meenanath Bhole used to buy gold from abroad and also he used to deliver the melted gold to the customers. Vishwanath Yadav used to keep the records of this related transaction and he used to have the overall information about the related transaction.And Deepak Jangam and Rohit Mohite both used to help in transporting the gold and the last accused Vikram Balkrishna Mothe was in the role of a driver in this case. He used to transport the gold from the airport and sometimes he would also help in reaching the customers.Rajkumar Pawar and Ravindra Salunkhe, the owners of this gold smelting unit, have also been arrested.
In this operation in the Masjid Bandar area, some airport employees, along with foreign citizens, were involved. With the help of these individuals, the accused would bring gold from abroad to India and sell it in the market without any documents or receipts.The unit used to melt the gold was also located in an area where no one would suspect it, so the accused would melt the gold and take it to the market in a way that would not arouse suspicion.Therefore, the DRI is currently investigating how many other people are involved in this case, as well as the customers who bought this gold.
The police administration and the Direct Rate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) have taken serious note of this entire matter.
