Impact on Water Supply in Mumbai from January 20 to 21

The water supply in Mumbai will be affected in several areas between January 20 and January 21. In some localities, water will be supplied at low pressure, while in others it will be completely shut off. This disruption is due to infrastructure work related to the Metro 7A project.

Water supply in Mumbai will be affected from 20 January

For the Metro 7A project, a section of the 2,400 mm diameter Upper Vaitarna main water pipeline has been diverted. In addition, cross-connection work of the diverted main pipeline in the K East ward will be carried out during this period. As a result, the water supply in Mumbai will be impacted from January 20 onwards for approximately 44 hours. According to a revised schedule, changes have been made to water distribution, leading to reduced pressure in some areas and complete shutdowns in others.

Due to the extension and diversion of the Upper Vaitarna main pipeline for the metro project, the water supply in Mumbai will mainly be affected in areas such as Andheri East (K East ward), parts of S Ward including Vikhroli and Bhandup, Bandra Kurla Complex, Vikhroli West, Dadar, Prabhadevi, and Mahim. In these areas, water supply timings will change, with some locations facing complete suspension and others receiving water at low pressure.

In the G North ward, particularly in the Dharavi area, the regular morning water supply timing is usually from 4:00 am to 12:00 noon. However, between January 20 and 21, the water supply in Mumbai in this area will be available only at low pressure from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Areas affected include Jasmine Mill Road, Matunga Labour Camp, Sant Rohidas Road, 60 Feet Road, 90 Feet Road, Sant Kakayya Road, MP Nagar Dhorwada, Mahatma Gandhi Road, Dharavi Loop Road, and AKG Nagar. Evening supply areas such as Dharavi Main Road, Ganesh Mandir Road, Dilip Kadam Road, Mahim Phatak, and AKG Nagar will receive low-pressure water from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm instead of the regular 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm schedule.

In the K East ward, where the regular water supply timing is from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, the water supply in Mumbai will be completely shut off between January 20 and 21 in areas such as Mulgaon Dongri, MIDC, Roads No. 1 to 23, Trans Apartment, Kondivita, Maheshwari Nagar, Upadhyay Nagar, Thakur Chawl, Salve Nagar, Bhavani Nagar, Durgapada, and Mama Garage. Additionally, areas including Vijay Nagar, Marol, Military Road, Vasant Oasis, Gavdevi, Marol Village, Church Road, Hill View Society, Kadamwadi, Bhandarwada, and Uttam Dhaba will also face a complete shutdown during the evening supply hours of 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm. The international airport and SEEPZ will also experience a complete suspension of the water supply in Mumbai during this period.

Several other areas in the K East ward such as Chakala, Prakashwadi, Govindwadi, Malpada Dongri No. 1 and 2, Hanuman Nagar, Mota Nagar, Shivaji Nagar, parts of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Colony, parts of Charat Singh Colony, Mukund Hospital, Technical Department, Lelewadi, Indira Nagar, Mapkhan Nagar, Takpada, Airport Road area, Chimatpada, Sagbagh, Marol Industrial Area, Ramkrishna Mandir Road, JB Nagar, Bagarka Road, Kranti Nagar, Kabir Nagar, Bamanwada, Parsi Wada, Airport area, Tarun Bharat Colony, Islampura, Deulwadi, and P&T Colony will face a complete shutdown of the water supply in Mumbai from January 20 to 21.

In the S Ward, areas such as Vikhroli West, Kanjurmarg West, Suryanagar, Ambedkar Chowk, LBS Road, Suncity Complex, and Bhandup West (including Kokan Nagar, Samarth Nagar, Kaju Tekdi, Quarry Road, Jamil Nagar, Utkarsh Nagar, Sai Hill, Sai Vihar, Tembhipada, Bhaktipada, Tank Road, Jan Bazar Talav Road, Tulshetpada, Village Gaon, Datt Mandir Road, Shastrinagar, Sonapur, Shrirampada, Trimurti Nagar, Waghoba Wadi, Tanajiwadi, Nardas Nagar, Shivaji Nagar, Chafya Pada, and Ramnagar pumping station areas) will receive water at low pressure as per schedule. Meanwhile, areas such as BEST Nagar, Filterpada, Gavdevi, Scout Guide area, Municipal Staff Quarters, Pathanwadi, Mahatma Phule Nagar, and Aarey Road will experience a complete shutdown.

Similarly, in the N Ward, during the 44-hour work period, water will be supplied at low pressure according to schedule in areas such as Wadhwa Residency, Presidential Towers, Kalpataru Complex, R City Mall, Orchids Building, Damodar Park, Pankesh Baba Dargah, Udyan Galli, Sanghani Estate, Shreyas Cinema, Sainath Nagar, Nityanand Nagar, Vikhroli West Railway Station Road, Firozshah Nagar, Godrej Compound, Upper and Lower Depot Pada, Sagar Nagar, Municipal Buildings, and Kailash Complex. Residents are advised to store sufficient water in advance and use water judiciously during the period when the water supply in Mumbai is affected.
