Two hundred doctors at Jogeshwari Trauma Center have called for a strike. The doctors and staff at the hospital have taken an aggressive vow that they will not work until they get their salaries.Till date, no contractor has paid the minimum wage as per the law to the contract workers working at this Jogeshwari trauma Center since 2013.The contract of the employees of this Jogeshwari Trauma Center was given to a new company from January 1.Due to this new company, their salaries were initially delayed, meaning that the salaries for the three months of January, February, and March were initially delayed for some time and then these salaries were paid.But the employees have not received any salary since April.
The employees of Jogeshwari Trauma Center also followed up on this matter from time to time but they did not receive their salaries.The Mumbai Municipal Corporation has not approved any payments since January, so the employees have not received their salaries. It was also stated at this time that the contractors paid the money from their own pockets, which was made between January and March.
These healthcare workers at Jogeshwari Trauma Center are currently facing various financial problems due to the festive season also The employees want to go home and we also want to send money back home, but due to non-payment of salaries, they are currently facing financial problems.Also, big festivals like Raksha Bandhan and Ganeshotsav are coming up.Therefore, due to the lack of wages during these festive days, employees have taken an aggressive stance and warned of a work stoppage as they have to face a large number of various things to survive in a big city like Mumbai.When asked about this entire matter, the hospital’s Medical Superintendent, Dr. Hanumant Vaikule, said that he is currently busy in a meeting and cannot say anything about this related matter at the moment.
Due to this strike by the employees, various health problems are currently being created in the hospital. Similarly, cleaning, food for the patients and other arrangements are also being delayed.Due to the strike by various hospital employees, many systems in the hospital are currently at a standstill.
A contract was also signed in January regarding these employees of Jogeshwari Hospital and this contract was also passed at that time.However, it was also revealed that the contract was awarded to the wrong person due to pressure from political and various officials, instead of awarding the contract to the selected contractor.Therefore, the employees said that this salary problem arose because the contract was not awarded to the selected contractor.The hospital administration as well as the Mumbai Municipal Corporation officials are urged to resolve this matter as soon as possible, as this hospital in Jogeshwari provides a wide range of facilities to its patients.Therefore, the current municipal administration and the administration face a major challenge in preventing this employee strike and various problems that may arise in the future, which will put a strain on health facilities.
