Citizens are shocked by the potholes on the Vakola flyover

A large number of potholes have formed on the Vakola flyover on the Western Express Highway, which is important from a traffic point of view.Angry residents of the area are currently demanding that the name of the contractor involved in this shoddy work be blacklisted.Due to shoddy work, the flyover is riddled with potholes, causing immense traffic problems for the citizens. Therefore, taking cognizance of this matter, the citizens of the area have also demanded that the name of the contractor concerned be removed.

Initially, asphalting work was done on the potholes on this Vakola flyover, but due to heavy rains and various other reasons, it is now apparent that the asphalt has been exposed. Therefore, citizens are already experiencing problems due to potholes and rainwater accumulating in them. Thousands of passengers use this flyover every day for transportation. These potholes can also cause accidents, which is also why citizens are worried.

In fact, the Mumbai Municipal Corporation had already completed the concreting of the city’s roads and the filling of potholes before the onset of the monsoon season. But this year, the rains started only in the month of May, so most of the planning was disrupted, but the municipal corporation also ordered the installation of systems at various places. The Municipal Corporation’s Information Technology Department has also created a dashboard for complaints called Pot Hole Quick Fix. With the help of this dashboard, information about how many pothole complaints were received daily and how many potholes were filled will also be published on this dashboard. Therefore, through this dashboard, transparency has been created among the citizens regarding potholes in Mumbai city, and complaints made by citizens are also being remedied from time to time.

Vakola flyover is an important flyover from the perspective of both the Western and Southern Highways, so the potholes on this road were initially tarred in early May.But at the end of May, the rains intensified, so by the beginning of June, the condition of the potholes was once again the same.Later, during June, these potholes were also asphalted, but now in the month of July, it is seen that they have been restored once again. The number of vehicles traveling on this flyover is also large, so due to pothole problems, citizens are currently spending one to one and a half hours on work and travel in places that used to take half an hour. Traffic congestion is also a big problem.

The Mumbai Municipal Corporation had filled more than 16,000 potholes last year, costing the corporation about Rs 150 crore for these potholes. So far, around 6,000 potholes have been filled in Mumbai this year, so the Municipal Corporation is taking a big interest in the complaints of the citizens and is currently setting up a relevant mechanism in the city.Various things are being done regarding these potholes as much as possible through the Municipal Corporation.

Various flyovers in Mumbai city are currently in the news, such as the Sindoor bridge due to the pedestrian problem and the Gokhale flyover in Andheri, which often remains in the news for that reason. Now, the problem of potholes on the Vakola flyover is also becoming a hot topic for the citizens. Therefore, the Municipal Corporation should immediately fix the problem of potholes on the relevant flyover and save the citizens from the problems arising in this regard. This is a demand made by various social activists in this area.
