Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar redevelopment accelerates

This redevelopment project in Mata Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar will be implemented jointly by the Zopu Authority and the MMRDA i.e. Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority. This project will be implemented on a joint partnership basis between both the organizations. Also, the relevant joint agreement has been signed with both these organizations, i.e., the Sleep Authority and the MMRDA, and the relevant process has also been completed.

The project will be jointly completed by the Zopu Authority and MMRDA.

In this jointly implemented project in Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar, the slum authority is carrying out the responsibility of vacating the plots by demolishing the slums, under which the slums are being vacated and the land is being transferred to the MMRDA.The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority is responsible for the rehabilitation of eligible slum dwellers on this vacant land. Under this, 14,000 slum dwellers will be rehabilitated here, and this responsibility lies with MMRDA.Accordingly, work is underway to determine eligibility, and the work of demolishing the slum is also currently underway.

For this project in Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar, i.e. the Zopu Yojana, out of the area occupied by slums, 84,638.72 square meters of land falls under the Revenue and Forest Department and the MMRDA has taken possession of this land. The announcement of handing over of these relevant documents was also made by the state government on June 9, according to which the MMRDA has received the possession of this land. The remaining 71,738.73 square meters of land is under the jurisdiction of the Public Works Department. This land will also be available soon, so the redevelopment project in Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar has gained momentum. The affected people will soon get houses and be rehabilitated under this project.

The land under the Public Works Department for this project is 71,738.73 sq m and the related proceedings are currently underway. MMRDA will take possession of this land after obtaining the No Objection Certificate (NOC) for this land. The application process for the construction of 4053 houses in the first phase of MMRDA has also begun.Due to all the processes of this project that are going to be carried out, the citizens of this area will get their rightful homes in this area.

The process for the construction of 4053 houses to be built for the redevelopment scheme in Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar has already begun and an expenditure of Rs 1450 crore is proposed for the construction of these houses. Also, a decision has been taken at this time to redevelop six 28-storey buildings.

The expansion policy from East Mukt Ghatkopar to Thane would also affect the slums in Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar, hence the MMRDA has decided to redevelop the entire Ramabai Nagar including the affected slums. Therefore, this entire process has accelerated the current work and also the process of transferring the land under the Public Works Department as soon as possible has also gained momentum.Under this project, there is a plan to provide such rehabilitated buildings to the 14,000 affected slum dwellers, so the slum dwellers will definitely get the houses they deserve.Currently, the land required for this project, which falls under the Revenue and Forest Departments, has been transferred, while the land falling under the Public Works Department has also been handed over to MMRDA, after obtaining a No Objection Certificate. So all these processes are going to be carried out.
